13.114 Rare Porcelain Pocket Watch Stand of Metz With Napoleon III and William I. Circa 1870

This porcelain watch stand has an oval base with a plaque on the front signed “Sedan”. In the foreground are the two main belligerents of the Franco Prussian war, Napoleon III and William I after the battle of Sedan. The square base has carved detailing and is signed “Sedan” on the front. The stand shows the figures of the two men seated in plush chairs with their respective hats sitting on the side table. The figures have exquisite detailing on the uniforms and also on the actual physical likeness of the two men. The stand has a pen holder and watch stand and aperture behind them. The stand measures 110mm x 90mm x 140mm high and is in 95% mint condition
