2.8 Superb Example of a Gilt Pair Cased Verge. By Wm Bramble, With Owners Dial and Gold Hands. 54mm. Key Wound / Key Set. Circa 1801


Movement – this is a high quality English gilt full plate fusee movement with a verge escapement. The movement has a finely pierced watch cock decorated with floral work and an engraved grotesque face. The movement also has a large diamond endstone in a blue steel setting. The movement features a silver regulator disc. The movement is signed “Willm Bramble, London” # 1028. The movement is in 95% mint condition – very clean condition

Inner case – the movement comes in a gilt inner case, which has a hinged bezel and the watch is wound from the back, set from the front and swings out from the front also. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – some gilding is missing but this is honest wear on the stem and bow and very little on the inner which would have been covered by the outer Outer case – the original and matching outer case has an early watch paper. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 75% mint condition – most of the gilding has worn away but still in honest condition

Dial – the white enamel dial has a rare pair of gold heart shaped hands. The dial is signed with the owners name “Willm Mills, 1801”. The dial is in 98% mint condition – some small scratches only. The watch ahs a bulls eye glass.
