7.29 Early Dutch Silver Chatelaine with Seal c1770


This is an early silver Dutch chatelaine with seal made circa 1770 The chain consists of a silver panel with an applied silver flower with silver wire work set with a large red stone. Hanging from this are two simple silver links. On the back of the panel is a later, lightly engraved inscription D J H 1851 Hanging from the other end is a length of simple silver links leading down to a silver seal decorated with pierced work and coiled silver wire work. The seal is also set with two large red stones. The silver base is engraved with C Petersen. The seal measures 34mm high x 30mm wide The chain measures 14cm in length. The chain and seal are in excellent condition with only minor wear
