This is an early gilt cased Georgian compass signed by the maker's marks Troughton & Sims, London. The compass has a particularly fine enamel dial with markings and steel arrow. The compass has a slide lock. The case has a smooth plain finish. The dial is in 100% mint condition, the case is in 80% mint condition with some small patches of metal coming through the gilding.
